About This Practice

For Northern Virginia patients tired of years of allergy shots, AllerPoint's Arlington office offers intralymphatic immunotherapy (ILIT). As the practice's website explains, a small dose of allergen goes into a superficial lymph node under ultrasound guidance, and the full course is three injections spaced about a month apart. AllerPoint says each appointment is quick, usually under 15 minutes, followed by an hour of observation in the waiting room. According to the practice, relief may begin after the third injection and keeps building, and studies suggest it can last for years, as with traditional allergy shots. It lists mild, temporary soreness at the injection site as the most common side effect. AllerPoint describes itself as one of the few practices in the country focused primarily on ILIT and says it was among the first in the Mid-Atlantic to offer it. Its website lists allergies to tree, grass and weed pollen, dust mites, animal dander and mold. The Arlington office sees patients by appointment. Contact the practice to schedule. Dr. Jaimin H. Patel, DO Board certified allergist Fellowship in allergy and immunology, University of Virginia Internal medicine residency, Lehigh Valley Health Network DO, Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine

It's been three months since my third injection and I'm so happy with the results!!! I love being outdoors but due to allergies I previously had to limit outdoor exercise during spring, (some parts of) summer, and the fall. This summer was completely different and I was able to exercise outdoors on a daily basis. I was also able to mow the lawn without any allergy symptoms! I never thought that would be possible. ILIT allergy injections have changed my life and I no longer worry I'm going to get a sinus infection that leads to antibiotics. Most years I was on antibiotics at least 3-5 times for reoccurring sinus infections. Due to my allergies I never really seemed to heal from the sinus infections. If I caught a cold it would immediately turn into a sinus infection requiring antibiotics. I'm not sure how I even found out about ILIT or Dr. Patel. I think I was frantically searching for a cure for reoccurring sinus infections since I was worried one day antibiotics would stop working for me. Btw, Dr. Patel and his team all so kind! I'm so thankful he opened an ILIT office in Arlington otherwise I would have had to drive to Richmond. Other than Dr. Patel the next closest ILIT center is at Ohio State University. So, so, so thankful I found out about ILIT and Dr. Patel. I highly recommend ILIT. Btw, for reference I have mold, dust, grass, and tree allergies. I forgot to mention prior to ILIT I had been doing weekly allergy shots for 1.5 years and didn't see any meaningful allergy relief. ILIT is a game changer.

completed 3 rounds of ILIT and saw a real reduction in my allergy symptoms, to the point where they're pretty much gone now. The treatment did what it was supposed to do. Each session was quick and painless. No real discomfort to speak of.

Had my ILIT treatment completed here and can't believe the results of life long allergy relief. Dr. Patel is very advanced in this and only one in the mid-Atlantic providing this. I drove 3 hours for my visits. Well worth it! Dr. J for this WIN!
